An advanced writing workshop where children develop strong writing skills while strengthening the executive functions that make successful writing possible. Through meaningful, engaging, and purposeful projects, students learn to organize their thoughts, plan their ideas, manage information, monitor their progress, and communicate effectively.

The class integrates writing instruction with key executive functioning skills such as planning, organization, working memory, cognitive flexibility, self-monitoring, attention, and task persistence, skills that are essential not only for writing but for lifelong learning.

Children develop:

• Paragraph and essay structure
• Organization and sequencing of ideas
• Creative and informational writing
• Vocabulary and language expansion
• Sentence fluency and elaboration
• Editing and revising strategies
• Planning and self-monitoring skills
• Working memory and cognitive flexibility
• Task initiation and sustained attention

Most importantly, children learn to approach writing with confidence, develop ownership of their ideas, and build the executive functioning skills necessary to become independent, organized, and effective communicators. Through a supportive and engaging environment, writing becomes a meaningful process of thinking, creating, and expressing ideas with confidence.
